BOOK NOTES - November 2006
by Armand Cabrera

It has been ten years since Kevin McPherson wrote his first book on painting, Fill Your Oil Paintings with Light and Color. That book has since become an International best seller. Much has changed since then, in part due to artists like Kevin and groups like the Plein Air Painters of America. The popularity of Plein Air painting has become astronomical with groups popping up everywhere.

Kevin’s new book, Landscape Painting Inside and Out, reiterates fundamental ideas while expanding Kevin’s theories on art and painting. The book is well designed and the images are large and beautifully reproduced. There are many step-by-step demonstrations. The chapters are well organized and cover many aspects of good painting.

Landscape Painting Inside and Out also discusses the business side of art--- good suggestions for getting started in the business---and many tips for more established painters to reenergize their painting and getting to the next level.
