Growing up in rural Southern Colorado has taught me how
to appreciate nature and respect the environment. I love
being a landscape painter because of the unlimited variety
of subject matter. I’ve always been drawn to the
outdoors, it helps to keep me grounded and when you paint
on site, you can feel the temperature, smell the air and
see how the light truly affects color. Being a plein-aire
painter has taught me to look beyond the obvious and truly
see life as art.
Tom Lockhart has been featured in Southwest Art, Art
of the West and Watercolor Magazines. His work is included
in many corporate and private collections here and abroad.
Galleries throughout the Southwest and Rocky Mountain
Region as well as Maine, represent him. Tom maintains
his own gallery and studio, La Casa De Luz, in his hometown
of Monte Vista, Colorado.
