Baumann Lectures in Los Gatos, CA

Baumann Lectures in Los GatosStefan Baumann is the host of The Grand View, a PBS outdoor painting show that travels through America’s National Parks. He will be giving a Free demonstration that is open to the public on Saturday March 12, 2005. Baumann
will be discussing “The Power to Create”, a conversation that will include some of his views on art, and his experiences behind the scenes of his popular television series. Baumann will also demonstrate some of his oil painting techniques, followed by a question and answer session. Baumann is committed that each person in attendance will leave with something of value to take back to their own studio.

Giuseppe Abbati was born on January 1, 1836 in Naples, Italy. He was the son of Vincenzo Abbati, a painter known for his depictions of interiors at the court of the Duchess of Berry. While in Venice, Abbati studied at the Academy with Grigoletti. He returned to Naples in 1853 and followed in his father’s footsteps---painting interiors. In 1860, Abbati fought for unification with Garibaldi’s troops in Sicily. He was wounded in battle and lost his right eye in the attack of Capua.
